Majiya: CAF Remains Downs Priority
By Malose Wa Ga Lamola
Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and Banyana Banyana star attacker Nthabiseng Majiya was one of the best performers at the COSAFA tournament in Polokwane.
Majiya was named in the tournament's best XI. The 27-year-old attacker was the only South African player in the competition's best-performing star. Majiya says she is happy with her performance at the tournament and hopes to become even better.
"It was a great tournament. I prepared myself well for the tournament and to redeem myself, but also my teammates stepped up in that tournament. I did well with them." Said Majiya.
Majiya joined Banyana Ba Style from Richmond Ladies back in 2024 and has since established herself as one of the key members of coach Godfrey Sapula's side. Though the pressure is high at the Chloorkop-based outfit, Majiya says the urge to win every competition helped her to adjust quicker and with ease.
"At first I didn’t understand how sundowns play but with time I did that we have the winning mentality of champions. The team played a role in my football career." Majiya said.
The Brazilians compete on all fronts, and the burden of missing out on the CAF Champions League football last campaign is still felt at the club. Majiya says everyone at the club aims to play Champions League football and eventually win the title they've won twice since its inception.
"With us preparing for upcoming tournaments, I mean, we want to come back and retain our title."
