Motlhalo: WAFCON Is A Big Tournament

Linda Motlhalo, Glasgow City's standout midfielder, is excited to join Banyana Banyana's Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) preliminary squad camp in Polokwane.
The Scottish Women's Premier League is taking a hiatus to allow international players to represent their countries. Motlhalo told Glasgow City reporters that the team is thrilled to remain unbeaten and at the top of the log standings heading into the break. City leads the charts with 46 points, five ahead of Rangers Women and Celtic Women, who both have 41 points.

City defeated Motherwell FC 4-0 on Sunday, with Mothlalo scoring her first goal of the season. Motlhalo, popularly known as 'Dinho' in her close circles, says she is proud of the team's performance and pleased to have secured maximum points.
"Four-nil win, I'm happy that we managed to control the game managed to score goals, could have been more but I'm happy with the three points." Said Motlhalo.
Motlhalo signed a new four-year contract with City late last month, extending her spell at the Scottish giants until 2027. The Mohlakeng-born sensation scored her first goal of the season in a 4–0 thrashing of Motherwell FC.
"I have been waiting. Working hard to get it and I'm really happy that it have finally happened today." Said Motlhalo on her maiden goal of the campaign.
The weekend's games marked the final round of fixtures before the league splits and goes into a recess. Motlhalo believes it is beneficial that the team is entering the break sitting at the top of the log standings.
"It is really good that we are going into the break sitting at the top and we've got momentum. Hopefully we will be there until the end of the season.

Motlhalo now shifts her focus to international duties. Banyana Banyana midfielder says she is eagerly awaiting to represent her country and hopeful that she will have a decent WAFCON tournament.
"Going back to South Africa, I'm really happy to always represent my country. WAFCON is a big tournament and I'm looking forward to it. Hopeful it will be a good one for me." Said Motlhalo.
The 27-year old midfielder says competing in the continental showpiece is always exciting because it opens up new opportunities, and she can't wait to compete in the next one.
"WAFCON means a lot to me. If we do well in the tournament we get an opportunity to go to the FIFA Women's World Cup and gets to compete against the best in the world." Sealed Motlhalo.
