Andisiwe Mnqcoyi, the star attacker-turned-coach for the Mamelodi Sundowns Women, talks about her experience earning her coaching badges. Winning a trophy with Sundowns juniors and balancing coaching young players with playing football full-time under coach Jerry Tshabalala's guidance.

Mamelodi Sundowns' under-15 girls Engen Knockout tournament under Mnqcoyi's leadership. The South African Olympian did not anticipate this accomplishment, especially this early early in her coaching career. "I never anticipated success so early in my coaching career, but with the support I have from my fellow coaches, the support from management, and the scouting department, we were able to assemble a team that is able to adapt and understand the philosophy at Mamelodi Sundowns, which you can see is evident in the other teams. Also, the hard work the players put in at training is there for all to see on the field, and the hard work put in the background in my coaching education is paying off as well."

Mnqcoyi was able to change her playing style after completing her coaching badges while still playing football. She now sees the game as a coach rather than just a footballer. Mnqcoyi tells ShakingInk that she has improved as a footballer since her coaching course. "Yes, it has affected me as a player because I can now read the game better and assist my teammates with certain decisions during the game because there are younger players on the team, so this is another factor that allows me to share experience during the game without being on the sidelines."

Mnqcoyi has won the CAF Women's Champions League twice. Banyana Ba Style remains clear favourites to win the continental crown, which will be held in Morocco later this year. Sundowns' rival, University of the Western Cape, qualified for the event after winning the Cosafa Caf Champions League qualifying round. Mnqcoyi is confident that South Africa's women's football will benefit from having two representatives at the competition.

"The inclusion of two South African teams in the Women's CAF Champions League underlines our league's competitiveness in the Cosafa area, as well as the high standard of football in our country. The prospect of a 'All South African Final' is impossible to forecast, given the tournament has its own unique problems, as proven by previous championships. Anything's conceivable. I am convinced that we will be honoured to represent our country. An all-South African final would be incredible." Mnqcoyi verified.
