Stephen Motete, the representative of Lebogang Mabatle, reveals the recent transfers of South African footballers to the northern part of the continent.

During the most recent transfer window, a group of South African footballers signed contracts with teams in different North African nations. Despite a common belief, Motete asserts that North African nations are capable of rivaling Europeans in the market. Motete explains that the majority of the players who started a journey across the continent were driven by the strong financial resources of clubs in North Africa.

"Some of the players are motivated by financial muscle in North Africa. Because, to be honest with you, some North African clubs pay better than some of the European clubs." Motete tells ShakingInk.

Mabatle has been present in the Moroccan territory for a while. After initially signing with Phoenix Feminin Marrakech in 2023. The tall defender achieved Champions League victory with Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies in 2021, a remarkable accomplishment that leads Motete to pray fervently for Mabatle's success once more.

"No player will go and play in a small league and not even have something to send back home. One thing that people must know is that there’s no money in Europe. Yeah, fewer leagues are paying well in Europe, so this also makes a ruling when players are to decide their next challenge." Motete emphasized.

Motete hopes his 32-year-old client from Pankop, Mpumalanga, will return to Banyana Banyana to assist Desiree Ellis in defending their title in the upcoming Women's African Cup of Nations in Morocco next year.

"I want her to win the league this season with Wydad. That’s my biggest wish. I pray to my God that this happens. I want to see her play in the Champions League again and, of course, win it. I want her to leave a mark with Wydad. Lastly, I pray that I see her back in the national team and see her in the Banyana Banyana Women's African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) squad next year. But we leave the rest to the Almighty and do the work in a field of play." Concluded Motete.
